Weddings in the Autumn – A Guide

Having an autumn or fall wedding brings with it its own set of unique choices. Perhaps the biggest area of change between a late-season wedding and a traditional summer wedding is the choice of colour and fabric that the wedding party will wear.
It goes without saying that the most important member of the wedding party is the bride. Traditional white dresses are a rare sight in the late-season months and are eschewed in favour of a rich palette of colours.
Sepia toned dresses that has the appearance of an heirloom wedding dress, slightly aged, are a popular choice.

Of course there are also autumnal pastels as well as the richer colours that the late-season scenery provides. Brush umber, soft yellows, and even some deep reds and blues.
It’s not normally practical for a wedding dress to be of a heavier material, but it is normal for the opacity of the material to try and give the appearance of velvet, this is particularly true of the darker colours. Remember you may need to coordinate various other aspects of your tired during the day. Consider the colour and choice of jewellery and shoes in particular when opting for a darker coloured wedding dress.
It’s rare also, to see anything other than a full-length wedding dress in the late-season months. Brides who want to show off their legs in an autumn toned wedding gown may find that their choice is limited. It’s certainly worth looking around if this is something you want to do.
As for the rest of the bridal party, the traditional wedding tuxedo for the groom and best man, grooms-men is a perennial that can be worn all year round. However it can be access rights to make it more autumnal. A pastel cravat, Even an ivory shirt rather than the traditional white shirt will add a fourth quarter touch to what is basically a very traditional appearance.
It’s fair to say, that whatever tone or style is available for the bride will probably be mirrored in the dresses that can be bought for bridesmaids and the maid of honour.
However, if you are absolutely certain you want to coordinate colour and style of dress, then before you fall in love with your autumnal leaf themed wedding dress, make sure that there are appropriate gowns for the supporting cast are available. It’s potentially heartbreaking to find the perfect wedding dress and realise that the rest of the bridal party will have to wear dresses that are completely at odds with it on the day.
Finally, remember the fabrics themselves are an important design choice. A slightly heavier weave of silk or cotton is often appropriate for an autumn wedding.
If you have decided on a late-season autumnal wedding, then it might be worth taking the time to consider the huge new range of colour options that are available to you that will fit in with the late-season theme.
